Shooting Black Pigs

In preparation for the Vienna Octoberfest, we had dinner with FeneTech at a beer hall.  Afterwards we wandered into a pub and had a local treat; Black Pig.  This is a concoction of the finest Scandinavian licorice marinated for months in vodka.  One of the most disgusting shots we have experienced......

Luxembourg Military Cemetery

We visited the American military cemetery where over 5000 soldiers rest.  The casualties buried here are predominantly from the Battle of the Bulge.  General George Patton is also interned here in front of all his men.  My father served in Patton's 3rd army (95th division, 377 regiment, Company H) and fought in the bloody battles of Metz, Saulaurten, and the Rhineland campaign to capture Dortmund.  Today was a strong reminder of those who sacrificed for our freedom.

FeneTech Europe

We visited the FeneTech office and saw their new Luxembourg facility.  Last time here it was under construction.  It was nicely completed and looked very profesional.

Crawling in Luxembourg

A quick 40 minute flight and we were in sunny Luxembourg.  The usual strategy when getting to your final European destination is stay up until at least 10 PM local.  Well... a late lunch followed by a what turned into a bar crawl kept us up well past our target time.  We slept soundly!

In Netherlands

The flight was shorter than scheduled at a little over 7 hours.  I actually did sleep a few hours.... a pretty rare occurrence.  Amsterdam looks like most other airports in the world, even with the creepy art work.

Flight 136 to Amsterdam

We are boarded and getting settled.  These premium seats should facilitate sleep.... But, we always have difficulty dozing off in flight.

Leg 1 - Chesterland to Detroit

Our first leg is a drive to Detroit Metro airport for a direct flight to Amsterdam and then on to Luxembourg.  The flight is at 8 PM, so we need to burn a few hours at the Delta Sky Lounge.  The Saugatuck Brown Alex was tasty and the pretzels were too salty.

End of Summer

We had a decent crop of sunflowers this year.  The dry conditions are accelerating their transition to seed.
